27 December, 2011

Organizers of 'Sunburn 2011' managed to get permission to hold the festival at Candolim beach, a day before the festival starts. About 300 policemen will be posted at the venue. The organizers claimed to have made facilities for extensive parking and traffic control arrangements - outlined with five parking grounds, eightshuttle buses, 150 volunteers, two towing vans, and 12 traffic wardens. "We have also outlined stringent security measures where male and female guards, security supervisors, metal detectors and sniffer dogs, with a total of 1,305 personnel will be working to give you a secure Sunburn experience. A network of 100 CCTV cameras and eight watch towers with security guard and communication will aid the security officials to monitor crowd behavior," said Shailendra Singh of Percept Ltd. Also for the first time, organizers have arranged for women-specific facilities like 'ladies-only bars'. The Sunburn festival, "dedicated to the promotion of peace and global harmony", aims to attract more than "60,000 people" and will be held from December 27 to December 29. With a team of "162 medical professionals on call", they have tied up with a private hospital to provide "all forms of medical assistance". "Along with a large team of nurses, doctors and stretcher boys, we will also have jeeps, first-aid booths, stretchers and medical centers spread across the venue. The convenient and well-spread emergency entry and exit points were outlined, along with the spread of fire brigades and extinguishers," said Singh. The organizers also have plans to take "Asia's biggest electronic dance music festival" global. "We are planning to hold the Sunburn festival in US, Bali and Sri Lanka", added Singh. .
