Percept Profile

How has your experience been so far with regards to your association with Percept?

The experience of working at Percept is nothing short of a dream come true. In terms of work experience, colleague interaction, overall personality development and peer-to-peer communication, this is one dream that I have been living day in-day out. Being at Percept for nearly three years, I have discovered a new me, and have understood that my true calling lies in Public Relations and Writing.

What’s currently in the works at Percept?
Well, a great new change in terms of responsibility shifts is underway in my department. Apart from generating content, I am also responsible for research, planning and new business that keeps me on my toes every moment of my public life. Percept has always stood for exploring the new and trendsetting vistas and thus our forthcoming endeavour is a step in the process of continuing the said tradition.

Can you share with us some milestones of your brand and experiential career?
I am nearing the completion of awesome three years here at Percept, and this journey is nothing short of breathtaking. I started my journey at Percept in September 2011 and have been associated with the content development team at Percept Profile since then. Handling content duties for the clients, devising media and PR strategies for them along with creating cutting-edge research modules for their consumption are my basic job responsibilities.

But with the media echelon being diverse and dynamic entity, my job responsibilities keep on varying as per the needs of the occasion. For example, at a client event I might be seen doing celebrity interactions, and at other events I might be seen undertaking client servicing duties. This is the fun of being at Percept, where every day is a new challenge and every challenge is a new opportunity for me.

What is the most memorable project you’ve worked on?
Undoubtedly, the International Film Festival of India for two years in succession. We got the PR and Event mandate for IFFI in 2011 and 2012 and working on the account was an out-of-the-world experience. From creating content for Ministry of I&B officials, to drafting stories around cinema celebrities; from lining up media interactions on ground, to watching films to create media-centric anecdotes; the experience at IFFI has been an unforgettable one.

Being a cinema aficionado and a one-time film maker, IFFI is one of the closest projects to my heart, wherein every year I look forward to face new challenges and ring in new opportunities from amongst them. The level of anticipation for IFFI goes to fanatical levels for me, wherein I have postponed my marriage date to a safe occasion in December to synergize all my attention towards IFFI, if we have it in our kitty the third time around.

How do you envision the Public Relations Industry in the next five years?
The Public Relations Industry is on an unprecedented boom and will surely augment its reach across the media universe in the coming years as well. Today with greater exposure to world cultures in terms of mobile, TV and internet penetration, the Public Relations industry has reinvented itself where public relations has developed into a more image management process. Thus going forward, all PR activities will revolve around creating, safeguarding and developing client image and will be played out on a bigger social media platform.

What is your take on Inspiration and creativity?
The relationship between Inspiration and creativity is like a ball bearing and a lever. None of them can be successful in their respective individual capacities and both have to work in tandem to deliver great results.

Inspiration has been rightly attributed to as the ‘gist of the soul’. Inspiration eggs an individual on to go ahead and achieve his goals and objectives. It makes people follow their dreams and achieve their destinies. As is rightly said, “There is no greater joy in achieving your dreams than by achieving them through inspiration”.

Creativity is that one acumen which everybody possesses but many are ignorant to use. Today we see a lot of people excelling in their fields and also see other people doing the same mundane job over and over again. The difference between them is the lack of creativity utilization. While the first set of people employ their creativity to bring in an enviable spark in what they do; the second set do not even explore their inherent creativity and keep on working their lives off for just doing it. This is the difference between successful people and regular people.

How do you unwind after a hard day at work?
My unwind pill after a day of work is to go out on a long drive with Eleanor. That’s the name of my car which is the most integral part of my life. My unwind pill includes a long drive with her, with my favourite music on along with the windows rolled down and the wind hitting my hair. A deep breath and the rejuvenating drive is all I need to unwind after work.

What is your personal success mantra?
- I have oft heard the success mantra, “Try, Try till you succeed”. Well my success mantra is a bit different from it. It goes like, “Try, Try till you don’t screw up… It’s then that you have done it right”… My success mantra is all about not giving up till it can’t be stretched anymore. This way you can be rest assured that you have given your 100% to the job in hand.

Can you give us a peek-a-boo into your family?
My awesome family consists of my dad who is a retired Army officer (too disciplined to my liking!), and my mom who is a housewife (but more than that she is my lifeline), and my Wife Aananya (with whom I share a very Tom & Jerry-esque relationship).

Any parting shot for our readers?
An advice which I would like to share with everyone reading this. Try and make at least one person smile each day. This way by the end of it all, you would have made at least a quarter of the world happy. Try it… it gives you great memories and a satisfaction which is unmatched.
