Having worked over the years with some leading travel companies, I have observed that there is a steep rise in all travel segments across India, be it Business travel, FIT, Group Tours, Luxury travel or MICE. The travel business has grown up many fold so the competition has also gone up as there are lots of mushroomed travel companies has started operating besides a number of online travel companies have also been opened up in last 6-7 years-which are offering low cost air tickets / packages in the market, making competition a little tough for established players.

The opportunity comes up in the form of the MICE segment which has been increasing consistently every year. The future of the MICE business looks bright as this segment is bound to increase further since it is linked with the market buoyancy and consumer buying power which has increased phenomenally over the past few years.

Besides the increase in the customer’s purchasing power, there are various new products and players that have come up in the market who are producing innovative products for sale to consumers to boost sales and market share. The companies are selling consumer products though their dealers’ network across India based on various Incentive Travel Schemes (offered by established travel companies in the market). Every year thousands of qualified dealers and company officials are travelling various destinations under the Dealers Incentive Group Travel Schemes.

I foresee a great opportunity for us; Percept has various business verticals and has been dealing with various corporate clients over the past three decades. If we could make better use of the large corporate pool we already posses and synergise with the Percept MICE then we can certainly develop additional business opportunities for the MICE segment. This will also help us to establish ourselves as a strong, leading player in the Travel domain.
