Every genre inspires new music: DJ Shaan

DJ Shaan, who recently spun for a music festival in India and has played for shows that have featured some of the biggest names in mainstream electronica, talks about tunes, beats and more...  What is the inspiration for your work? My main inspiration is emotions and passion, although I work hard to make my parents and myself proud. I have been around music from a very early age and expressing my emotion through this platform has always kept me inspired  Who do you see as the most talented American and European DJ today? There are too many artists honestly to narrow down to one as all of them are talented in different ways. I really enjoyed Kaskade's set and it was great to play alongside him in Mumbai. Armin Van Buuren, Tritonal, EDX, Dash Berlin are some of the artists that I enjoy listening to. Every artist has a signature style of their own, which makes it hard to choose one.  You're playing at Sunburn this time. How did that gig come about? How was it like, interacting with Shailendra Singh? Hmm interesting, I have learnt a lot from him. I started my career in Sunburn Goa 2010, and ever since I have been Sunburn's resident DJ. I have played for many Sunburn events, covering Festivals, Arenas, Reload and Campus events for them. I have been playing at Sunburn for the last 3 years and counting.  What did it feel like, to play alongside names like Avicii, Afrojack, David Guetta, Tiesto, Dash Berlin and Swedish House Mafia? A huge honour, most of these artists are Gods to people and to be sharing the same stage with them is a huge honour and a dream come true. It's an amazing opportunity to learn new things and be part of the complete experience  What according to you constitute the perfectly-packaged saleable hit song and why? What I think constitutes of the perfectly-packaged saleable hit song, the masses won't. What I think is the most saleable hit song would be everything to do with the emotions the melody in the song that connects to me! These days, tracks with lyrics work a lot - good video - great social presence and collaborations with artists work although this differs for many people.
