Dance music festival Sunburn ends on high note
30 December, 2013

As dance music festival Sunburn blazed into its third and final day off the coast of Vagator, Swedish music producer Axwell was Lord of the House, quite literally. Single-handedly unleashing hysteria across the sea of dance-crazed fans, with his super hit sets 'Center of the Universe' and 'Nothing Like Love' among others, the most popular one-third of Swedish House Mafia brought the curtains down on a high note, promising to return to India soon.  While the organizers chose to be evasive about the number of footfalls received, sources estimate that over 80,000 revellers attended the three day festival.  The Goa police were out on the streets in full force on Sunday evening, trying to make sense of the traffic snarls across areas like Arpora, Ashwem and Siolim, where the sunburners merged with revellers heading to another EDM gig, the Krank festival.  However, being stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic did not seem to dampen the party mood, as tourists turned up their stereos and popped open beer cans anyway. Villagers who had set up tiny shops on the way to Vagator did brisk business selling bottles of petrol to revellers.  "Today, the festival saw guests trooping in quite early, to experience the carnival-like atmosphere, and try their hand at adventure sports. The trampoline and the maniacal mechanical bull were hot favourites today," said an organizer. Day 3 featured artists like Anish Sood, Wolf Pack, Aneesh Gera, Jimmy Kennedy, Ummet Ozcan, No ID, Pete Tong, Catch 22, and dozens of others across different dance music genres.  Candolim beach meanwhile will continue to vibrate to the tunes of Vh1 Supersonic, which is touted to see a crowd of over 10,000 people on its final day.  Brimming with energy after a wildly successful day 4, music curator Nikhil Chinappa said, "We had an incredible variety of artists performing across our three stages, and by 8.30pm, we were packed. The response has been overwhelming but we are glad to shut shop by 10pm, after which the crowd spills into the shacks and restaurants across north Goa to have dinner-we want Supersonic to have a symbiotic relationship with Goa's business owners," he added.
