Sunburn ’11 set to trance music lovers

The Sunburn Elect-ronic Dance Music Festival is all set to kick-off at Candolim beach in Goa, and the excitement is really high. Over three days, starting from December 27, electronic dance music lovers will get to see the best of house, techno, trance, electro, hardstyle, breakbeat. The festival has not only grown a year older, but also bigger with several artiste line-up including several national and international artistes. The first two days at Sunburn will see last years’ favourites, as well festival debutants, showcasing their musical genius. BBC Radio 1 host, music producer and DJ, Pete Tong, Gabriel & Dresden, Jerome Ismae–Ae, Perfect Stranger, Laughing Bud-dha, Rae and Brute Force and Avicci are some of the names making their debut at Sunburn 2011. Twenty two-year-old Avicci ranked six by DJ Magazine, was recently in Mumbai for a preview gig, and is among the names to watch out for at the festival. Gabriel & Dresden is one of the most popular names in the US EDM scene, and has worked with most of the international acts, besides releasing their own albums. Returning to Sunburn’s shores are World No.5 (according to DJ Magazine) English trance act Above & Beyond, Funkagenda, John 00 Fleming, Skazi, and Indian favourites Jalebee Cartel, DJ Pearl, Ma Faiza, Anil Chawla, Dale Anderson and the young Indian act Lost Stories, also a must-listen-to. And to make it easier for visitors to locate their favourite artistes, the festival venue has been divided into seven stages — four main stages and three small stages. While the main stages will cover all the major genres of electronic dance music – trance, house, techno and psychedelic, the other stages will host live/experimental, mostly fresh and unexplored talents. Also, this year there will be one stage dedicated solely to live bands. Day three at the festival will see stalwarts like Feel the Vibe hitmaker Axwell bring in sounds that led his band Swedish House Mafia to international popularity. German DJ Markush Schulz will offer his bit of trance. Israeli act Infected Mushroom is known for its psychedelic music involving complex synthesised bases and leads accompanied by acoustic guitar, drums and tempo. Grammy nominated producer Nic Fanciulli is known for his high-voltage techno sounds. German DJ, Moguai is known to play in different genres from neo-trance to progressive and electro house, all with the same panache. Joining them will be DJs like Mad Maxx, DJ Clement and Janux (a Blue Frog favourite) whose sound, Indian partygoers are already familiar with. The three-day festival will also have several Indian names like Praveen Acharaya, Vipul Angrish, Vik and Anish Sood among others. So, pack your bags and head to Candolim beach in Goa for the best of electronic dance music. .
