30 December, 2010

The Grammy Award winner, DJ Paul Van Dyk, who is ranked no. 6 in the world, took the stage to dazzle a huge crowd gathered at Candolim beach of north Goa on the third and the final day of the Sunburn electronic dance and music festival on Wednesday. The festival, which kicked off on Monday, was streamed live across 82 countries reaching a wider audience. The Sunburn festival this year saw some leading artistes set the stage on fire. Kick starting the final day's proceedings were DJ Shaan Nawed Khan, Pearl, Funkagenda, Sanjay Dutta, V-Shall and Karan “Third Eye”.

Reflecting the upbeat mood of the organisers, Shailendra Singh, Joint Managing Director, Percept Limited, said on Wednesday: “We are thrilled by the response we have received this year with crowds of tens of thousands every day.” Apart from an elaborate line-up of some of the biggest EDM artists from across the world, Sunburn this year had tight security. There were 32 CCTV cameras, a two-level manned security, sniffer dogs, narcotic patrol officers, an emergency medical team equipped with a mini clinic, an onsite medical team, several medical consultants, six emergency exits and four watch towers. The event had on call, a first of its kind disaster management team. The organisers said the Sunburn Goa 2010 followed a policy of zero tolerance “say no to drugs”. With thousands of fans at Sunburn Goa 2010, the Sunburn team in collaboration with the Goa police had taken all steps to ensure that the festival remains drug-free and that all visitors had a safe and secure time at the festival.
