It’s time to get Sunburnt in Goa
23 December, 2010

Sunburn, the biggest electronic music festival in the country is looking to get bigger than ever before this year. With its carnival like atmosphere with volleyball courts, food courts and outdoor games, the three-day party on Candolim beach in Goa, is getting down massive international artistes. Headliner Paul Van Dyk steps in to fill BT's shoes after the Grammy nominee had to stay home for a court case for the custody of his kid. Joining him will be trance artistes Ferry Corsten and Axwell. Every year the line-up goes through a 100 rumours before the list is confirmed. Names like David Guetta and Tiesto were dropped, but finally the festival sticks to the tried and tested names like John 00 Fleming, Sultan, Xerox & Illumination, among others. Sultan played a scorcher of a set last year, and had people going crazy on the 'beach-floor'.

There have been a few hiccups too. The Home Ministry of Goa recently said that they hadn't received applications for the fest, and incessant snow continues to ground flights in Europe. Shailendra Singh, Joint managing director for Percept who is organizing the fest is confident. He says, "We have been there for three years and we know the kind of stuff that goes around. We can promise that we won't break any laws whether it is the 10 pm deadline or in terms of licenses. We believe that we are adding to the Goan economy, from employment at the fest to filling up hotels and restaurants around the venue." The festival will also feature Indian DJs on its like Vachan Chinnappa, Pearl, Jalebee Cartel, Breed among others. Thankfully, the festival has different genres of music which range from house to drum ‘n’ bass. It's going to be massive.
