Van Buuren to headline this year's Sunburn in Goa, the No 1 DJ in the world to perform at the electronic music event 2 December, 2009
This year SUNBURN, the dance music festival, which is in its third year, is co-organised by Mumbai-based PDM, a division of Percept Limited, a brand marketing company, and Nikhil Chinappa, founder of the electronic dance music company Submerge, and festival director. Shailendra Singh, Managing Director of PDM, says he is thrilled Van Buuren who has been ranked higher than John Digweed, David Guetta, Tiesto and Paul Van Dyke three years in a row -- is playing. “Van Buuren is very difficult to get in the first place and to get any DJ in December is a nightmare. But now Sunburn has gained momentum and is considered to be one of the top 10 music festivals in the world. It's also considered an interesting destination because of the beaches. Last year the festival attracted a crowd of 30,000, despite the terror attacks and the recession. The year before 23,000 clubbers came when it was a two-day event. This year we are expecting 60,000 to 65,000 as Van Buuren is playing, and he is a huge pull, there is no doubt about it. We are expecting a young-at-heart, cutting-edge crowd," Singh adds.
