Entertainment, Media and Communications conglomerate, Percept Limited has revealed plans to list it’s newly launched wholly owned subsidiary ‘Percept Live’ on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) with a valuation of $1 Billion by 2015-16.
Percept Live is the global entertainment company that focuses on creating Intellectual Properties across the arenas of Sport, Entertainment and Social Media. Launched in July 2012, the Intellectual Properties currently owned by Percept Live include Sunburn, Fight Night, Bollywood Live, LOST, Superstar, and Windsong Music Festival.
Said Harindra Singh, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Percept Limited, ”We are targeting to list Percept Live at an offshore stock exchange, preferably NYSE, by 2015-16 at a valuation of $1 Billion.” Elaborating further on the reason for targeting an overseas stock exchange, Harindra Singh said that Indians still have a mental block when it comes to investing in non-tangible assets. “In the Entertainment business, the assets we create are non-tangible. Every time we create an event, we bring everything together, deliver a fantastic memorable experience, but 24-hours later there is nothing physical to show for it. And yet we will be the first company of our kind to list in the overseas market,” Singh added.
Percept is already infusing INR 200 crore in Percept Live, of which INR 50 crore raised will be used in creating innovative IP’s with global appeal as well as scaling up the existing IP portfolio. The company aims to tap live event audiences for IPs in the Live Entertainment, Sports, Fashion, Digital and Media space.
A key focus of Percept Live is the expansion of Sunburn, Asia’s biggest Electronic Dance Music Festival. Witnessing burgeoning demand from Sunburn fans, the music festival has expanded from the traditional annual festival held on the beaches of Goa every December to make its advent across Mumbai, Delhi and overseas in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Percept will be taking Sunburn across the globe to Jakarta, Singapore, Dubai, Venezuela and Mexico in 2013-14.
Added Harindra Singh, “Sunburn Goa 2012 witnessed a footfall of 100,000, but by the end of 2013 we can easily project that half a million visitors would have experienced the Sunburn fest. Next we intend to take the event truly global to 10-12 different countries in the next 2-3 years.” The brand has already expanded from its musical roots into the burgeoning lifestyle space to span merchandise and cafes, and will include Sunburn Club Lounges, Sunburn Talent, Music Record and Video Labels, Sunburn Records, Sunburn Radio, and a Sunburn Television property.
’Lost’ is another IP property that the company is looking to build under Percept Live. A Joint Venture between Percept and Arjun Rampal, the ‘Lost’ Music Festival will be a musical extravaganza with International & domestic talent coming together from across various music genres like Pop, Rock, Dubstep, House, Reggae, Drum & Bass, Metal & R&B.
‘Superstar’, another new exciting IP from the Percept Live stable, is India’s first validated DJ ranking initiative and dedicated platform for the promotion of Indian DJs. Superstar’s objective is to reach out to as many DJ’s across India while showcasing their talent to the entire world. Q3 2012-13 has already witnessed Superstar host Prok+Fitch, Moguai and Pete Tong across India. The highlight of the Superstar initiative will be World No. 1 DJ David Guetta’s power packed performance on 8 December at Goa.
